Power is nothing without control. Think Rules gives your business control over your operational analytics environment. Allowing business and customer centric rules to be captured, managed and applied both online and in batch.
In addition, by combining rules and the real-time predictive analytics delivered by the Think IES platform, predictive analytics and business rules can be combined to provide powerful business solutions.
Why Business Rules?
In many cases, a company's business rules are at best written down in documents or, more likely, not defined formally at all and just taken for granted that "everyone" knows what they are. This is inefficient and leads to inconsistencies in the application of the rules, which can then lead to dissatisfied customers.
Using a Business Rules Engine and Business Rules Management System (BRMS) is an approach whereby the rules are defined in a BRMS and then applied automatically and consistently using a rules engine wherever they are required across multiple channels. The screenshot below shows an example of a rule in the Think Rules BRMS:
Advantages of a Rules Engine and BRMSWhat are the advantages of using a Rules Engine and BRMS over traditional methods of hardcoding rules and logic inside applications and systems?
|Summary of Think Rules Benefits|
|Separates Logic and Data||The separation of decision logic from technical implementation gives you more flexibility to make changes with minimal or no impact on IT systems operation. The application logic can then be viewed and understood more easily.|
|Consistency||Allows business logic to be used by multiple applications, enabling consistency across the enterprise. This is vital as companies are offering the same products and services over multiple channels.|
|Automation||Getting fast accurate and repeatable results through automation of applying the business logic.|
|Business User Understanding & Involvement||Allows non-technical business managers and analysts to maintain logic as rules without being totally dependent on IT. Business rules are more understandable, which means that IT and the business can co-operate more easily, leading to fewer errors.|
|Central Knowledge Base||By using rules, a knowledge base is created that can be executed within operational systems and applications. This means it's a single source of truth for business policies and strategy for customer treatments.|
|Integration for Real-Time On Demand Applications||The ThinkAnalytics platform has been designed to be easily integrated into operational systems and applications. This means that business rules can be applied in real-time during customer interactions.|
|Ability to Respond to Rapid Market Changes||Rule templates can be created to let users update, view, or create rules in a controlled manner without knowing anything about syntax or code. This means that new rules can be created and deployed rapidly to react to changes in the market and competitive environment.|
